Interwoven: Jewellery Meets Textiles
The interconnection of jewellery and textiles has a long history, given the intimate relationship of both crafts to the body and personal expression. But what is the nature of this bond today? Looking from the perspective of the contemporary jeweller, the exhibition asks how and why makers are engaging with textile techniques, materials and aesthetics as they create?
A stunning display of jewellery pieces loaned by makers, the Goldsmiths’ Company Collection and the Crafts Council Collection - shown in dialogue with a range of textiles to invite exploration of their textural, structural and visual interconnections. Together, they offer a rich perspective on the ongoing and evolving relationship between jewellery and textiles.
